Delhi nursery admissions, run properly

Roughly 1,700 private schools in Delhi run the same process on the same dates every winter. This is how it works, and how Campunix takes the paperwork off your desk.

Five steps, one screen each

1

Notify your criteria

Each school publishes its own points — neighbourhood distance, sibling, alumni parent and so on — on a 100-point scale, and uploads them to the Directorate's portal before forms open.

In Campunix

A criteria builder with the usual template. Edit freely until the first list; locked after.

2

Take the forms

Registration is capped at ₹25. Parents declare distance and claim points. The child must meet the age limit on 31 March, with a short relaxation at the head's discretion.

In Campunix

A public form on your own link and QR. Age is checked on the cut-off date; claims are recorded, not trusted.

3

Verify documents

Points are final only after the school has seen the papers behind each claim.

In Campunix

Staff tick what the documents support. Only verification sets the final points.

4

Publish the lists

The list of applicants, the points given to each, then the first list with a waiting list, then a second list. Equal points are settled by a draw of lots.

In Campunix

Every list prints from one screen — names and form numbers only. The draw's seed is stored so the order can be recomputed and shown to be fair.

5

The reserved quarter

25% of entry-level seats go to EWS, DG and CWSN children through the Directorate's own computerised draw, not the school's.

In Campunix

Campunix handles the open seats and leaves the reserved ones to the Directorate, as the rules require.

What schools ask us

When do forms open for 2027-28?
The Directorate announces the schedule each year, usually in late November. In the last cycle, forms ran from 4 to 27 December and the first list came out on 23 January. Confirm the dates for this cycle against the Directorate's circular when it appears.
How much can we charge for the form?
₹25 for registration. The prospectus is optional and cannot be made a condition of applying.
Can we interview the child or parents?
No. The Right to Education Act bars any screening procedure, and the Directorate has struck down criteria that amount to one.
How are ties broken?
By a draw of lots among children on equal points. Campunix records the draw so anyone can verify it afterwards.

A note on the age band

Delhi has been restructuring entry ages. Campunix ships with 3 to under 4 for Nursery on 31 March and a 30-day relaxation, and both are settings — confirm them against this year's circular.

What this page is not

A summary for busy principals, not legal advice. The Directorate's circular for the cycle governs.
